MERCY OF GOD AND THE END-TIME
MERCY OF GOD AND THE END-TIME
The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
(Psa 103:8)
Mercy is defined as a compassionate disposition. A disposition to be compassionate or forgiving of others. This has been a wonderful and loving character of God almighty for many centuries and from generation to generation. God the Father has always demonstrated how loving He is to humanity but on most occasion we have taken His Compassion for granted. We run to God crying for mercy from time to time but are unwilling to reciprocate His mercy by living a righteous and holy life.
For the first man and woman, God showed mercy by clothing them after they sinned. The punishment they received for humanity was even cancelled shortly after the flood in the time of Noah.
Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
(Gen 3:21)
And Noah built an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more everything living, as I have done. While the earth remained, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
(Gen 8:20-22)
God’s mercy was always available to humanity whenever we cry unto Him but most often the mercy ceases its operation because of the sinfulness of mankind.
For instance, when the descendants of Abraham inherited the Promised Land, they forgot their creator and God and began to worship idols which attracted the wrath of God against them thereby handling them over to their enemies. Judges 2v7-23.
God almighty was moved with compassion for Lot and His family, hence he sent His angels to rescue them before Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed, Gen.18v20- 19v26
And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city. (Gen 19:16)
Brothers and Sisters, men and women, we are in the end-time as prophesied long ago. The Prophecies of our Lord Jesus Christ and His Apostles are being fulfilled before our very eyes.
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
(Mat 24:4-14 KJV-BRG)
Brothers and sisters, it is not enough to cry out to God for mercy over our nation Nigeria and other nations of the earth but in addition we must earnestly Preach Jesus and His kingdom to humanity through every means available and with all our heart.
Our Lord Jesus through our General overseer, Pastor E.A Adeboye, some two or three years ago said, ‘’countdown to the end has begun’’. Therefore, as wise sons and daughters of the Most High, let us Go and teach all nations beginning from our circle of influence that Jesus is at the door to take home the church. Matt28v19, 20.
Remember, Moses stood in the gap for the children of Israel, Exo.32v7-14, but these were unrepentant. They were not destroyed all at once as God wanted to do at first but bit by bit for forty years they died in the wilderness. None of them arrived the Promised Land, Deut.1v26-38.
Our promised land is not on earth but Heaven, therefore we counsel all to watch and pray. Pray for and Preach to the unsaved and backsliding, keep looking unto Jesus, Pray for General overseer and family to finish well and strong as well as other leaders in the body of Christ and take heed unto yourself as the word admonished us that ‘’let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall’’. 1 Cor.10v12.
